The 4Cs of Polished Diamonds
Cut, colour, clarity and carat weight — the shared language of diamond quality.
Carat is a unit of weight; one carat equals 0.2 grams. Larger diamonds are rarer, so price per carat tends to rise with size.
Colour for white diamonds is graded on a scale from D (colourless) downward. Fewer visible tints usually means higher value.
Clarity describes internal inclusions and surface blemishes, from flawless to included grades. Cut describes how well the diamond has been proportioned and finished, which affects how it handles light.
A grading report from a recognised independent laboratory records these characteristics. Always check that the report number matches the stone you receive.
